Joel 2:25 is the greatest verse that should bring you comfort. When it's taking longer than you thought it would, we often become obsessed with time instead of enjoying the journey.
There is not one day of my stand that I didn't learn something. These moments are more precious than you realize. These are the moments that God has your attention. He is revealing to you who you are. Not who your spouse thinks you are, or your parents want you to be, or even who your children need you to be. God created you for a purpose. These moments that you walk in the wilderness will bring you to who God created you to be. And he will give you back everything that was lost.
God has done so many things in my life that exceed this verse. My family and I would cruised each year for 7 days, enjoying all of the Caribbean Islands. It was the highlight of our year. We would also do several other trips that we had saved up for. My heart would hurt when all of this stopped. I felt robbed, as we had lived very frugal throughout the years, in order to provide the best for our family. I longed for my family to continue having those opportunities. Then, one day, I was blessed with a project in Puerto Rico, and now me and my family and I live on vacation every day! It's unbelievable to live, where people vacation, and it's all paid for through my job.
When I was a kid, I said, " I am going to live in Carolina, Puerto Rico." I just remembered that dream as I drove to the gym the other day. Carolina, Puerto Rico is where I now live. God placed that desire in my heart! God will restore every moment, every kiss, every holiday, every missed birthday, and every forgotten dream. He has promised to restore all that the Locust ate away. I want to encourage you this morning that you can trust God. He is a God that is better than good, as my Grandma Betty Sue used to say. I am a walking testimony that God restores time! Today, cherish the journey and ask God what he is trying to teach you in this part of your walk. Soon, you will be living in all he promised.
Shalom
